a website about nothing

WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?

March 23, 2007

I wanted a website about something, but everything I looked into seemed to be based ultimately upon nothing, so I just sorta threw in the proverbial towel and put together a site that explores the prevalence (if not the utter ubiquity) of that nothing, from the emptiness between the stars to the void of the atom.

And then I looked into the human condition and couldn't help but notice that everyone makes far too big of a deal out of everything, from religion and politics to personal stuff.

Why do I say they're making too big of a deal? Because when you take a close look at all the crap that human beings are doing, it's all too easy to see that it's all based upon nothing.

Oh sure, they may think it's imporant, but it's not, not really. You know why? Because they made it all up! They made up all the religions and all of the social customs and conventions that they seem to be always so busy (if not downright obssessed) with.

We're all gonna a die and leave this place that we never asked to be placed in in the first place. So what's the big deal, unless you're really suffering, or in pain or something? But most of the people I see making such a fuss are definitely not in pain or otherwise suffering. Hell, I see people on HGTV spending $50,000 on a new kitchen. (Tell me that ain't making a big deal out of nothing.) I find myself talking to my television whenever I see this kind of crap. I end up virtually screaming stuff like, "You people don't have any problems. Get a grip. What the hell was so bad about the old kitchen? It worked, didn't it? Is that all you can think of to do with $50,000?"
