I STAND FOR NOTHING

I believe the promotion of nothing is important. At the same time, as contradictory as it may sound, I also believe it is absolutely unnecessary. The nothing isn't going away no matter what I say (or don't say) about it. I simply enjoy playing with it.

I promote nothing, and remind people of it as often as I can, because I believe it to be the ultimate foundation of all that exists. Everything comes from nothing (and returns to it), including our most cherished thoughts and/or ideals. Without nothing, there would be no something.

The outcome of all this is a belief (a staunch belief) that we human beings make far too big of a deal out of everything. I am reminded of this every time I happen to overhear someone on HGTV talk about having only $50,000 dollars to spend on a room renovation.

This is of course an egregious example, but there are many others not quite so extreme. Take religion (please take it, preferably to the dumpster). There is not a religion in existence that is actually based on anything substantial. All religions are ultimately based upon fear, which is nothing but a feeling that exists only inside our heads.

Religions are based upon nothing.

There is no fear in the universe. It is only in our heads. And it's only there because someone put it there. I'm not talking about primal fear. I'm talking about social fear, the kind that is prompted by hearing words pour from the mouth of a priest or preacher, or maybe our parents who are passing along the stuff that they heard from a priest or preacher.

I guess you can tell that I easily go off on religion. Occasionally someone asks me why I am so outspoken about it. The answer is simple. I go crazy about it because the religious types have political clout. They are in the majority and thus have the power to insinuate their absurd (and completely unfounded) abstractions into my life.

I truly don't care what anyone believes (no matter how stupid it is), unless that belief has a way of reaching out and touching me. This is exactly what the religious wackos are capable of doing with their almighty vote. They can't keep it to themselves. They have to share it, as if it were a part of their religion.

I feel about religious types the same way I feel about these morons who drive down the road with their bass amps cranked to the max playing that rap-crap. If they want to listen to rap-crap, let them. It's a free country. Let them listen to whatever in the hell they want listen to. But don't share it! Keep it to yourself.

This is exactly the same way I feel about religion. Keep it to yourself. Don't share it.

The very presence of George W. Bush in the White House represents an instance (a deplorable and most unfortunate instance) of religious nuts sharing their religion. The religious nuts put one of their own in the highest office in the land. And look at us now.

I truly believe that we should disenfranchise religious types. There is no way that people enslaved by unfounded abstractions should be given the power to decide who will be in charge.

Yes, I guess it's true. I'm basically on a rampage against the religious idiots who run this country.You might even say that it's my religious preference, one that I preach on at this pristine site devoted to the sacredness of nothing.
