OBAMARAMA (posted 3/26/2008) I like to think of the whole Obama thing as Obamarama. Don't ask me why. What the hell, it has this cutesy rhyme quality about it. Play with me here. (By the way, that is all I'm doing at this website, playing, in case you hadn't figured it out.) The whole scene serves as just another example of why I have no respect for this country. The masses are the asses. Obamarama just demonstrates it all over again. Here we have this new face on TV making speeches and the masses swoon and go crazy. It's like American Idol (or the congregation at Reverend Wright's church ... well, actually the Reverend Wright's bullshit church). Let's take a moment to consider what the masses have done of late:
1. They supported a stupid television show like Hee Haw for over 20 years. 2. They elected a fucking idiot to the presidency in both 2000 and 2004. 3. They currently support (and most avidly) a television show like American Idol. 4. They virtually sacrifice their own lives for the lives of others with their devotion to professional sports. (A sports fan is indeed a person who does not have a life of their own.) But, even worse, many of them sacrifice their lives for those of completely fictitious characters, like those who so obsessively follow the soaps.
I could make the list longer, but what the fuck. It's depressing enough as it is. What is really bad is that, I fear, we will never learn, until it is too late. Learn what? you ask. That we should never allow the masses (who are the asses, remember) to decide who the leader will be. Fuck the masses. Give them their drugs, religion, inane television, mindless sports and soap operas, not to mention their inferior, assembly-line food. But absolutely do not give them the power to decide who will rule over them. A machine could do a better job of selecting leaders than the fickle masses, which is exactly what I think we should rely on, a machine. We should program computers to select representatives to serve in the legislative houses in the same way we currently use them to select jurors to participate in the judicial process. And once the machine-picked legislators are seated, they should decide who the leader will be. The fickle, easily-swayed masses should never be given such power. Democracy is its own worst enemy.
